Simone Biles Reacts to Red Carpet Moment, Issues Stern Warning About What’s Next

May 1, 2026

Simone Biles stands as one of the most decorated gymnasts in history, having earned a substantial portion of her wealth through endorsement deals and brand collaborations.

The 29-year-old now seems skeptical of that lavish lifestyle after she and her husband, NFL player Jonathan Owens, completed a multi-million-dollar home project together.

Now she’s hinting that she’ll be “staying inside for the foreseeable future.” But fans aren’t certain whether that’s a joke… or a warning that something could be changing.

‘Do You Know Who You’re Talking To?’: Simone Biles Shuts It Down with Savage Response After Cringeworthy Question

Biles went viral this week after she posted a TikTok to explain why she plans to “stay indoors for the foreseeable future.”

In a video shared on Tuesday, April 28, the rising star addressed fellow celebrities, athletes, and influencers with earnings on par with hers. “I just need to know if this is normal, okay?” she said. “Because stepping outside is expensive as hell these days. But is it this expensive, okay?”

Biles disclosed that she had recently undergone a glam session for a red-carpet appearance, complete with a stylist fee and a hair-and-makeup crew. “My grand total — any guesses? I’ll wait.”

She paused, then added, “Probably higher than what you’re thinking. … Keep going …”

The gymnast revealed that the overall bill came to roughly $23,000. Yet she now wonders whether she overspent given the rising cost of living, tying it, in her post, to political turmoil in the region.

I will be staying inside for the foreseeable future 🥴 on another note, also kinda wack when they double or triple the price because of your name. this didn’t happen this time but it has before 🤍 my intention isn’t to bash anyone, everyone I work with/have worked with is LOVELY! I’m just curious if this is normal

“But I just want to know if that’s f-cking normal. If that’s the standard, and inflation is forcing prices up, and if that’s the new norm, then you can have it,” Biles stated, shelving any notion of splurging further.

“Y’all will never see me at another event. I’ll voice this right here, where it’s free. Free! Okay.”

Biles admitted she’s been “kind of spiraling since then” because she notices many peers at events who clearly aren’t paying those prices every time. “Some of you really are out there, but there’s just no way.”

The Olympian has taken a two-year hiatus from gymnastics, but the red-carpet price tag had her reflecting on a possible return. She did not disclose which event she might attend, but quipped about possibly wearing a “leotard.”

She quickly reversed course, saying, “Actually no. Yeah, I just won’t go. Please, please, please tell me that that’s not normal. Okay, thank you.”

To clarify the video’s purpose, Biles added, “And by the way, my aim with this video isn’t for you to attack people or anything like that. There’s no ill intent. I just need to know if this is normal. That’s really it. Because if it is, I’m staying indoors.”

The gold medalist’s followers on The Shade Room offered feedback in response to the post. “whaaaaaaaat!? omg thats insane,” one person exclaimed.

Another commenter offered an explanation for the exorbitant price, saying, “It’s not just inflation; they’re charging you because of your status and who you are.”

Others proposed alternatives, like using Klarna or similar services that let you pay in installments. Some even advised, “Grab someone in fashion school who’s eager to make a name for themselves!!!”

One more idea suggested, “You’re not resourceful enough. Book your cousin or someone you know, and when they arrive at the hotel, ‘surprise! You’re styling Simone Biles for only $350.’”

Another fan urged, “Girl, style yourself. You’d do a great job. That’s expensive in my view.”

It remains unclear which specific event is drying up Biles’ wallet, but it seems that until there is a more affordable path to the red carpet, she may skip appearances for a while.

The Met Gala is slated for next week, Monday, May 4. Last year, she and Jonathan Owens attended under the Black Dandyism theme.
