She has turned “The Odyssey” press tour into a masterclass of style, with Roach drawing on Greek mythology to embody her persona, Athena. With the help of one Black woman, they have crafted what many now regard as a fashion fairy tale.
Still, those breathtaking, sky-high heels that completed the look nearly didn’t make the cut.
The shoes were twelve years old, the designer didn’t have Zendaya’s size, and there wasn’t enough time to craft a new pair. The woman who saved the day had nothing to do with Hollywood.

Shoe designer Sophia Webster finally revealed the wild story after Roach’s team asked for her Clementine heels—a sophisticated, towering gladiator-style design from her archives.
“I hadn’t seen a pair of that shoe in years,” Webster explained in an Instagram video posted Aug. 14. “The shoe is 12 years old, so the request was very specific and intentional.”
