The feud between boxing champions Gervonta Davis and Devin Haney seems intensely real, and on Sunday another chapter in their ongoing rivalry unfolded.
Amid online chatter about the rumored death of Haney’s mother, Davis took to Instagram to taunt Haney.
Although Haney and his family have not publicly commented on the alleged passing of his mother, the absence of confirmation did not stop Davis from delivering a brutal online response.
“Crazy how buddy talked about my mom only for his mom to check a few weeks later,” Davis wrote in a now-deleted post on his Instagram story, “…now POST THAT.”
Davis then posted a photo—also later deleted—of Haney’s mother on his Instagram feed with the caption: “She’s doing the same thing her son did. Went to sleep.”

This continued a sequence of online posts in which the boxers disrespected each other.
Earlier, Davis had also accused Haney’s mother of having a “pimp” from a rumored burner account on X, a claim that has since been removed.
Haney answered by posting a photo of Davis and his own mother on Father’s Day. In his reply, Haney called Davis by his moniker “Tank.”
“I’ll post tank dad for Father’s Day since he won’t…” Haney wrote in a tweet that included the image of Davis’ mother. “Happy Father’s Day big tank! that’s fu—d up you broke & you made him move out of that house!”
Fans have long clamored for a Haney–Davis clash, but the two camps have yet to strike a deal. There’s also contention over the weight class in which such a fight would occur if it ever happens.
Haney weighed in on a possible meeting with Davis in late June.
“I think Gervonta grew some balls.. his team reached out!” Haney posted in a tweet. “We might just end up fighting!”
Haney’s planned October showdown with Keyshawn Davis to defend his welterweight title collapsed in July when Davis pulled out over a contract dispute.
Haney, who carries an undefeated 33-0 record, captured the welterweight belt last November by unanimous decision over Brian Norman Jr.
As for Davis, who remains undefeated at 30-0-1, he has not fought since his March 2025 bout with Lamont Roach Jr. His absence has been tied in part to legal matters.
A Netflix project planned last November pairing influencer-turned-boxer Jake Paul with Davis was scrapped after Davis’ ex-girlfriend, Courtney Rossel, filed a civil lawsuit accusing battery, aggravated battery, false imprisonment, kidnapping and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Davis also faced arrest in January for an alleged October 2025 confrontation with Rossel at a Miami club. He faces felony kidnapping charges and a misdemeanor battery count in connection with the incident. The case remains unresolved.
Leena Sayed, the mother of Haney’s one-year-old daughter, had previously accused him of domestic violence in 2024. Haney later called Sayed out for an extortion plot and filed lawsuits against her.
Nevertheless, Sayed withdrew a domestic-violence restraining order request and Haney withdrew his extortion lawsuits in a July 2026 custody agreement. As part of the deal, Haney agreed to pay Sayed $20,000 a month in child support.
Haney posted a photo of two bouquets of white flowers on his Instagram story Sunday that appeared to have been sent from Sayed’s sister, Ruby.
“Love you brother,” Ruby replied.
