This week, viewers were treated to a front-row view of that tension as two of Trump’s most devoted insiders appeared to clash inside the White House.
In the Oval Office, Trump was joined by Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services Director Dr. Mehmet Oz and Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Just as he finished, RFK Jr. started moving toward the area where Trump was seated a few feet away. But Oz, 66, stood in his path.
Oz began his remarks but also had to restrain Kennedy at the same moment. The former daytime talk show host physically blocked his colleague from stepping behind the president.
The HHS Secretary ultimately relinquished the attempt to edge closer to his boss. Cameras captured Kennedy flashing a sideways glance at OZ. Meanwhile, Trump appeared disengaged from the entire exchange.
Oz leaned in to acknowledge RFK Jr.’s role in the administration’s collaboration with the pharmaceutical firms. Yet the awkward confrontation between the two men overshadowed the attempt to show unity.

Earlier in the livestream, Trump did crack a joke about RFK Jr. potentially losing his job at the Department of Health and Human Services.
“I didn’t want to fire a Kennedy. I couldn’t. The thought of firing this guy, I wasn’t going to do that. Go ahead, Bob,” Trump quipped after RFK Jr. spoke about feeling pressured to carry out the president’s directives.
Trump’s light-hearted remark drew a few chuckles from the other VIP attendees. RFK Jr. also threw in a quip of his own that landed less humorously with those present.
“They had very, very emotional conversations. Let me put it that way,” Kennedy remarked before quickly praising Trump, a compliment that earned an approving nod from Oz.
Although Trump has asserted he has no desire to dismiss RFK Jr., the former star of “The Apprentice” built a reputation as a stern boss who loved using the catchphrase “You’re fired!”
The turnover in Trump’s first term was exceptionally high. To date, Trump 2.0 has seen MAGA loyalists such as former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and former Attorney General Pam Bondi depart from their roles.
RFK Jr.’s standing within the administration may appear secure for now. Yet his scramble with Dr. Oz for proximity to Trump could signal that the crowded field vying for the president’s favor is fueling behind-the-scenes drama.
