President Donald Trump delivered another one of his signature entrances, complete with the glitz and pomp befitting his larger-than-life persona.
The MAGA leader stood as the centerpiece at an event designed to energize his Republican base in the Southern state of Texas.
Yet even he can falter when an unforeseen moment stages a distraction and diverts the audience’s gaze elsewhere.

One performer accompanied the evening’s walk-out with live music. Country recording artist Lee Greenwood delivered his hallmark rendition of “God Bless the U.S.A.”
Greenwood, now 83, entertained the flag-waving audience of MAGA supporters gathered inside. Yet online responses proved far more critical.
The former member of the National Council on the Arts struggled to hit several notes. His imperfect performance of the patriotic tune did not deter Trump’s eager entrance.
Trump inched onto the platform as Greenwood’s off-key notes sparked cheers from the conservative-leaning crowd.
A sea of camera phones filled the arena. Trump drank in the adulation for several minutes. After the musical segment, the two men shared a hug as chants of “U.S.A.” rolled through the venue.
Trump finally approached the microphone. In his opening remarks, the billionaire politician thanked Greenwood and the cheering attendees.
“Well, thank you very much, everybody. And Lee, thank you. He’s been with me right from the beginning,” the president said. “A lot of singers have wanted to introduce me.”
Trump continued, “Once you win me, you want to all introduce you, and I said, ‘No way. Nobody’s introducing me. Only Lee. Lee’s the only one who can introduce me.’”
While the POTUS acknowledged Greenwood’s decade-long endorsement, commentators on social media fixated on the California native’s noticeably out-of-tune performance.
“Ouch. Cover your ears,” warned one Threads user in response to Greenwood butching “God Bless the U.S.A.”
Another Threads user replied, “Hahahaah, OMG, someone’s lost their nonexistent voice.”
More critics piled on, likening the vocals to fingernails on a chalkboard. “It’s like fingernails on a chalkboard! Ugh,” said one observer, with another agreeing, “This is all a bad nightmare, right?”
Trump spoke for nearly two hours after Greenwood’s underwhelming solo. By the time he finished, the energy had cooled from the raucous mood that had filled the venue about 90 minutes earlier.
Later in the president’s address, cameras captured Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. displaying a dour reaction. He appeared disengaged from the live event.
The 72-year-old looked uninterested as his boss spoke about the “great” Lone Star state.
Trump supporters erupted in applause, and even Vice President JD Vance and House Speaker Mike Johnson joined in for the Texas cheer.
Meanwhile, an expressionless RFK Jr. stood nearby with his hands at his sides, refusing to engage or participate in the festivities.
“The lies are too much for him? It will happen to more and more people in the coming days,” suggested one X user about Kennedy.
Sarcasm colored the dialogue when a poster asked, “Is their bromance over?” wondering if he had a grievance with Trump.
Another commenter warned, “He’s gonna be in trouble when one of the other stool pigeons tells on him.”
RFK Jr. has recently been linked to moments that could foreshadow him becoming the next cabinet official the president opts to replace.
After former Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem and former Attorney General Pam Bondi were dismissed earlier in the year, Trump teased the possibility of ousting his current HHS Secretary.
“I didn’t want to fire a Kennedy. I couldn’t. The thought of firing this guy, I wasn’t going to do that,” Trump quipped during an Oval Office photo-op in late August.
