Natalie Harp has become so closely identified with President Donald Trump that even her attempts to fade into the background are drawing attention.
Trump’s 35-year-old executive assistant stays in near proximity to the president most of the time.
Harp carries his phone, handles paperwork, and is reportedly involved in managing his Truth Social presence. By now, she might be closer to Trump than the password to his phone.
Nevertheless, Harp seems determined to avoid the spotlight amid circulating rumors.
She stepped off Marine One with Trump at Joint Base Andrews on Aug. 27. The two then prepared to fly to Houston for a Republican fundraiser backing Texas Senate candidate Ken Paxton.

Video circulating on Threads shows the president walking across the tarmac with a military officer.
Abruptly, Harp appeared, trailing behind both men in a long green dress that reached nearly to her ankles.
Rather than taking her usual place nearby, she shifted toward the far left and seemed to try to slip out of the camera’s frame.
The internet noticed her regardless.
“Is she hiding from the cameras?” one person asked. Another insisted, “She is trying to stay out of the camera shots but is failing.”
Speculation only intensified as many suggested, “She absolutely timed her walk to be in this shot.” Others commented on her hurried pace, noting, “She’s almost breaking into a run.”
Harp is often seen carrying heavy equipment bags that function as Trump’s mobile office and as a handler for social media and printed news. “Seriously! What is in that bag!?” queried one observer.
“I’m guessing Melania hurried back to Florida. I’m actually embarrassed for Natalie to be that needy as a grown woman,” one user added.
That Melania Trump reference was not accidental. During the Freedom 250 Grand Prix on Aug. 23, cameras captured Trump signaling for Harp to approach him.
The first lady abruptly left her seat in the stands. That’s when Harp stepped into her usual role, responding to Trump’s signal to bring him a phone.
When Melania returned, Harp was out of sight again. But the timing gave social media plenty of material to fuel a full-fledged online inquiry.
Harp reportedly helps draft and publish Trump’s social media posts.
The Wall Street Journal identified her as the aide who posted a racist video depicting former President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama as apes. It appeared on Trump’s account in February and was deleted after bipartisan outrage.
Trump said he watched the beginning but missed the offensive portion. The White House initially blamed an unnamed staffer. Apparently, presidential social media management includes posting, deleting and hoping nobody took screenshots.
Besides shadowing the president and distributing posts that have left many incredulous, Harp appears to harbor an “unhealthy obsession” with Trump by answering his every call.
Preston Harp blasted his sister in an interview, claiming she used to write personal letters to Trump and other presidents filled with doting messages.
He was also asked about a CNN report that Harp once climbed into the trunk of an SUV in Trump’s motorcade after being told there were no seats left.
“It’s actually kind of sad,” Preston said. “That’s an obsession. That’s, like, an unhealthy obsession with someone if you’re going to jump into the trunk of their car.”

Her access has stirred serious questions beyond her camera-dodging routine.
She reportedly worked in the White House for more than a year without completing a routine security clearance. Officials were concerned because she stayed close to sensitive conversations. She eventually received clearance after Trump intervened.
The attention also seems to be testing Harp’s manners. On Aug. 19, a photographer filmed her driving through Washington. Harp allegedly recorded him with her phone before mouthing, “f—k you.”
For someone seemingly trying to avoid the spotlight, she certainly knows how to leave the cameras with a memorable closing line.
