Kim Wayans Signs On for Scary Movie, Slams Her Brothers for Delaying Her Casting Across Six Films

June 26, 2026

We ain’t the ones to gossip but…

With close to four decades in show business, the legendary comedian Kim Wayans is funnier than ever, starring in a hit film in theaters, launching a new YouTube series, and leaving a lasting legacy that grows more iconic as social media trends evolve.

What began as the culture-shaping sketch series In Living Color evolved into a historic Wayans family renaissance, culminating in Kim finally joining Shawn and Marlon in the Scary Movie franchise.

Asked why her Scary Movie debut took longer than expected, Kim quipped that the question should be directed to her brothers—Shawn, Marlon, and Keenen.

“When you talk to the brothers, ask them why Kim is only now receiving her invitation, OK? Ring Marlon, Keenen, and Shawn and ask them (laughs).”

“You know, I love working with my brothers and it’s true, we grew up together so we do know each other and have a particular comedic dynamic between us, especially Marlon and I.”

“We’d love to go toe to toe and see who can be the most desperate, you know, who can pull the bigger laugh by doing something so outrageous and that’s a fun thing we like to do together.”

The hilariously raunchy ‘rebootquel’ made its long-awaited return with an impressive $55 million debut at the box office, marking the biggest opening in franchise history.
