Lauren Sánchez Dazzles in Curve-Hugging Ensemble, Outshining Jeff Bezos at His Big Night

Anna Wintour’s latest confidants, Lauren Sánchez and Amazon founder and chief executive Jeff Bezos, sacrificed a great deal to take on the roles of co-chairs for the fashion world’s most anticipated evening.

Wintour and Sánchez were seen side by side on Monday, May 4, attending the Met Gala, the couture-focused event held earlier in the week.

Although Bezos largely stayed out of frame for the cameras, the night largely felt like a girls’ gathering among Sánchez, Wintour, and a circle of stylish women.

Sánchez walked the red carpet solo, wearing a navy Schiaparelli gown whose shoulder straps were fashioned from jewels and pearls.

In a May 4 interview with Vogue, the former journalist opened up about how the look came together and the steps she took to fit into the gown.

She made a point of keeping the “Costume Art” motif in view not just when considering the gown’s silhouette, but also when selecting the brand behind it.

Explaining why she chose a luxury fashion house, she offered praise for its founder, Elsa Schiaparelli.

She said, “The theme is ‘Costume Art,’ and that’s exactly what Elsa Schiaparelli was pursuing 100 years ago. She wasn’t merely decorating bodies — she was turning bodies into art.”
