Organizers of Trump’s Great American State Fair have introduced a wildcard attraction in a bid to rally support during its final days.
The festival opened to visitors on June 25 and is slated to run through July 10. The spectacle sprawls across the National Mall, yet day after day it has struggled to fill the almost two-mile stretch of parkland.
There have been only two moments when thousands converged on the pavilion: the June 24 kickoff ceremony and Independence Day. Donald Trump was the headliner on both occasions.

Now, in a final-ditch effort to finish with dignity, organizers have recruited someone with close ties to a Trump rival: Meghan McCain, the daughter of the late Arizona Senator John McCain.
Meghan appeared on massive screens mounted on the fair’s main stage for the trivia game “Race 2 Win” in a pre-recorded livestream.

The contest streams weekly on YouTube but premiered at Trump’s capital bash, where the organizers apparently hoped a crowd would be tuning in.
“The View” alum explained, “In honor of our country’s 250th birthday, we’re bringing you an American history-focused show with players from across the United States.”
Video from the park showed that only the two men who appeared in the recorded episode participated. A cropped shot of the scene displayed seven empty folding chairs spread out in front of the stage.

The “Trump curse” also includes artists who pulled out of performances, several states that did not participate in exhibits, mechanical failures that left visitors stranded on the fair’s 110-foot Ferris wheel, and crowds desperate for a cool breeze who dunked themselves in a baptismal pool.
One observer quipped, “Wow even the Fyre Festival was more effectively executed.” Another snarked, “Oh, it’s unforgettable … just for all the wrong reasons. Trump failed AGAIN!!! The whole fair was a disaster, a waste of time and money!”
Yet Trump continues to tout the fair as a success that no other administration could have achieved.
