Miranda Priestly is back—and with her bite still in full swing.
Academy Award-winning actress Meryl Streep returns to her iconic role as the razor-smart editor-in-chief of a premier fashion glossy in The Devil Wears Prada 2, yet it’s her off-camera sharp tongue that’s stealing the show.
Streep’s outspoken remarks about First Lady Melania Trump’s fashion choices have exploded across the internet, and responses are coming in from all corners.

“We Hear Screaming”: A resurfaced clip alleges that Meryl Streep and Cher faced down a “gigantic man” to rescue a screaming woman, according to claims echoed in the resurfaced footage.
Many recall the moment when Mrs. Trump wore a green jacket bearing a cryptic message in white letters during a 2018 visit to McAllen, Texas.
The Slovenian-born first lady visited a migrant detention center amid the uproar over the administration’s immigration policies that separate families. The words “I REALLY DON’T CARE. DO U?” were printed on the back of her jacket.
A media frenzy erupted as reporters pressed for the jacket’s meaning, and Streep revisited the incident while discussing fashion with Winter.
Winter and Streep appear on the magazine’s May cover, and the “Sophie’s Choice” star seized the moment to take a dig at the first lady during their conversation.
Seems Melania got testy when confronted with her shady acquaintances and so I’m sharing this photo where she’s wearing a jacket with the words, ‘I Really Don’ Care. Do U’? Because, really, her grandstanding was grotesque to watch and almost unbearable to listen to. pic.twitter.com/e6p8rLe4Om

“I have so many thoughts about this,” Streep said when Winter brought up Melania.
“The most powerful message conveyed by our current first lady was delivered by the coat that read ‘I REALLY DON’T CARE. DO U?’ as she headed to meet detained migrant children. Fashion is about self-expression, but it also moves within larger historical and political sweeps of expectation.”
The MAGA side promptly attacked the actress for her remarks.
However, several Melania supporters also criticized the jacket’s cryptic message.
One person commented, “I’m a Melania fan, but there would have been a better place and time to wear that jacket.”
“The media’s constant targeting of her makes sense, but the timing was awful,” another person added.
“Since she wore the jacket, I’ve lost respect for her. It was completely inappropriate and entitled. Have some class. It’s a high schooler’s jacket, not a first lady’s.”
Another replied with a quip about the Trumps’ known fondness for gaudy gold decor.
“She clearly doesn’t care — especially about the migrant children she was going to see. I wonder why Trump didn’t have it written in gold.”
The Instagram post below echoed a similar sentiment in visual form, though the content remains as published.
President Trump later claimed that Melania’s message was directed at the “Fake News Media.”
The first lady herself suggested that interpretation, contradicting a spokesperson who insisted there was no hidden message.
Streep’s remarks arrive as Melania called on Congress to hold hearings to obtain testimony from Epstein’s victims.
Epstein’s death in his New York City jail cell in 2019, while awaiting trial on federal charges of abusing minors, was the context surrounding renewed attention to the case.
Melania held a press conference on April 9, insisting she had never formed a friendship with Epstein, despite evidence to the contrary.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is slated to hit theaters on May 1.
