It’s increasingly evident that whenever President Donald Trump makes an appearance, his loyal aide Natalie Harp isn’t far behind.
She almost never engages with the press, since her boss handles most of that duty for both of them.
So when Trump’s most devoted assistant finally faced a round of questions from reporters, she ended up saying more than she intended.
Readers hoped for a closer look at Harp, one of the most talked-about figures in Trump’s circle in recent weeks.
Instead, she used the moment to extol a “rare gift” she says her octogenarian boss possesses. Yet many readers felt the phrasing sounded like something they’d heard before.

The interview appeared courtesy of Washingtonian, which named Harp to its 2026 list of the D.C. area’s 300 Most Powerful Women in its October issue.
The magazine sent short questionnaires to four women pictured in the print feature, then published their full, unedited responses online on Thursday, Sept. 24.
Harp’s answers didn’t come from her directly. White House communications director Steven Cheung forwarded them, claiming she had sent them to him. The magazine received them on Aug. 18, right in the middle of a wave of “Who is Natalie Harp?” coverage.
For readers meeting her for the first time, Harp is a former One America News anchor who joined Trump’s team in 2022. She helps manage his Truth Social account and earned the nickname “the human printer” for handing him printed copies of favorable articles and posts.
The magazine warned readers about what they were about to see. Her capitalization and tone, the editors noted, might remind them of Trump’s own posts.
Harp was asked whether being young had been an obstacle or an advantage. The 35-year-old gave her age in two sentences. Then she devoted the rest of her answer to praising her boss.
“Age is merely a number,” she began. She went on to say Trump has never boxed people in by demographics.
She praised his “rare gift of seeing something in people that perhaps they don’t see in themselves,” whether they’re “male or female, young or old.” Harp pointed to his Cabinet as proof and credited it with delivering “unprecedented WINS.”
It was a questionable line to lean on. The Daily Beast noted she praised Trump for looking past their 45-year age gap. The remark came amid rumors about their closeness, which the White House has denied.
The rest of the questionnaire followed a similar path. Asked about the toughest part of her job, Harp complained that Washington “does not work at the speed of ‘TRUMP!’” and blamed “the Radical Left” for trying to slow him down.
She added that the real “epicenter of ‘power’” is in heaven, not in D.C., and that she starts each morning listening to a Bible audiobook.
Harp even credited Trump with the saying “You can’t prove your merit on quiet waters.” The Daily Beast said it couldn’t locate a single instance of him uttering it aloud.
The questions were about her, but the answers kept circling back to Trump.
Under the magazine’s Facebook post, social media users weren’t buying it either, and some were more upset with the outlet than with Harp.
“Y’all can’t be serious lol,” one person wrote. Another commented, “My god these people are so warped.”
“My god these people are so warped,” added a third. Many called Harp’s interview “sickening” and “just gross,” pointing specifically to her age remark.
“Yeah hon, we’re well aware that [you are] ‘decades younger than him,’” said one commenter. Another wrote, “Good grief, I’d hate to get stuck in an elevator with this unhinged woman.”
And by her own standards, she will not be remembered fondly.
Harp’s name has hardly left the headlines since August. Reports described letters she wrote to Trump, including one that read, “You are all that matters to me.” Even her estranged brother, Preston, called the relationship “very unhealthy.”
Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff named Harp in a viral campaign speech as one of the few aides on a secret flight out of Turkey with Trump.
Financial disclosures later revealed Trump gave her a $45,000 holiday gift on top of her taxpayer-funded salary. Then a grainy golf-course photo circulated, though the woman’s face is turned away, leaving her identity unconfirmed.
Harp’s influence has drawn scrutiny as well. She previously showed Trump something on her laptop at a Saturday Texas–Tennessee college football game while in the presidential suite. His early exit led many to wonder if he saw footage of himself being booed.
After the game, she flew back to the White House on Marine One with Trump, who nearly struggled to breathe on the plane. Harp quickly moved to block the view of press cameras attempting to capture the moment.
Her closeness has also prompted questions about his marriage to first lady Melania Trump. The two women have had a few run-ins but generally keep their distance even when in the same room.
In her final answer, Harp insisted history will remember them not for the years they lived but for the things they accomplished.
For now, though, readers will mostly recall what she actually typed—and how closely it mirrored Trump’s own social media voice.
