A quartet of appearances on late-night TV by a longtime adversary apparently achieved the same effect once again.
A sequence of Trump quips prompted the White House to publicly lash out at the comedian and talk-show host, issuing a sharply critical remark in response.
O’Donnell spent the previous week as the guest host of “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” turning her age-old rival into the nightly punchline, poking fun at his hair and his dancing as if their feud were a scene from a modern-day High School Musical.
By Friday, officials in the White House had evidently grown exasperated.

White House spokesperson Davis Ingle told Entertainment Weekly that “Rosie O’Donnell is a nasty woman and a total slob whose brain has been completely destroyed by Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
Labeling O’Donnell a “slob” was a jab that the comedian did not let slide without a response.
She took to Instagram and did what she has often done: nudged him with a tease. She quickly posted a 2024 photograph of Trump at Trump International Golf Club West Palm Beach. He wore a white polo tucked into blue trousers, the belt riding unusually high on his waist. The shot served as a reminder that the president has little room to lecture anyone about sloppiness.
