Even though the crosstown MLB showdown between the Chicago Cubs and Chicago White Sox is typically expected to be fierce, several fans in the stands found themselves facing more excitement than they had bargained for on Monday night.
A massive brawl erupted in the bleachers at the Cubs’ Wrigley Field, and the entire melee was captured on video for all to see.
The altercation left at least one man with a bloody head and nose, while the chaos saw multiple fans sprawled across the seating areas in the bleachers at Wrigley Field.
Wrigley Field staff and police took only minutes to respond after the brawl began, giving the players involved ample opportunity to throw multiple punches.
Three men were arrested at Wrigley Field Monday night, though none of the arrests were tied to the viral altercation, according to the Chicago Tribune.

After allegedly landing a sucker punch on a 26-year-old near the stadium restrooms, a 41-year-old man was booked on charges of misdemeanor battery and felony possession of 25 grams of cocaine. Two additional men, ages 29 and 33, were charged with misdemeanor criminal trespassing.
Video of the entire brawl in the stands can be seen below.
At one point, the man who left with a bloody nose seemed to kick a fan seated beneath him, prompting other fans to join the ensuing melee.
“Gotta tip my cap to the cameraman,” X user @IEnders11 wrote about the footage. “Great composure! A lot of people would’ve been too hype and shook the camera around. Not this guy! Great work!”
Fans stationed farther from the scene of the brawl also recorded additional angles of the confrontation on video.
It isn’t clear exactly when in the game the altercation began, but it briefly distracted from the on-field excitement.
The Cubs forced extra innings by tying the score at 5-5 in the bottom of the ninth. In the following frame, Cubs MVP candidate Pete Crow-Armstrong belted a two-run homer to seal the win and send the Cubs portion of the crowd home satisfied.
The Cubs and White Sox, both chasing playoff spots, will resume their three-game series at Wrigley Field on Tuesday evening.
Hopefully all the action stays on the field this time around.
