A fresh report suggests that President Donald Trump has been quietly weighing the option of dismissing his longest-serving chief of staff.
The president was reportedly reaching out to close friends and allies to discuss whether to oust Susie Wiles in the run-up to what many expect will be a blue-wave performance in the forthcoming midterm elections.
That claim comes from Politico, which cited four sources in its reporting.

Among the suggested successors floated for Wiles, the first woman to hold the role, were Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and Randy Levine, an executive with the New York Yankees.
Two other names mentioned, Politico noted, were Steve Witkoff, a real estate mogul who has acted as a Trump negotiator, and Bill Pulte, who heads the Federal Housing Finance Agency.
The Hill reported that Trump replied to Politico, denying that he has any plans or discussions about Wiles’ future.

“TOTAL FAKE NEWS Politico doesn’t care about facts, integrity, or honest journalism — it’s why I kicked them out of the White House!” the president said in a statement.
“Susie Wiles is my loyal and longest-serving Chief of Staff — there is a reason for that,” he insisted.
“She has been with me since the beginning, is my trusted advisor, and has my COMPLETE confidence,” he added.
Trump has a habit of turning to trusted confidants for advice about his staffing. Politico noted there are many encouraging him to dump Wiles, a veteran Florida political operative. At least one Republican insider reportedly said Wiles has “burned a lot of people” during her tenure leading the Trump operation.
Wiles has also served as a co-chair of Trump’s 2024 re-election campaign and is widely credited with helping him regain the White House.
Another name surfacing as a potential replacement? Former Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The Independent reports that McCarthy allies have floated the idea that he could assist Trump in navigating a Democratic-dominated Congress, particularly with a prospective House Speaker, Hakeem Jeffries.
In a flurry of social media chatter, commenters argued that even though they don’t especially like Wiles, any potential replacement could be even worse.
“She’s an awful person. But I’m a little nervous that she’s the only thing keeping us from a catastrophic event,” one Threads user admitted.
Others agreed. “If he fires her, the wheels will really come off the cart. There will be no adults in the room.”
This commenter joked, “He might want to consider that she knows where all the bodies are hidden.”
Another poster simply commented, “Wow.”
Wiles has been a fixture in the Trump camp for a considerable period.
She oversaw his Florida operation during his first bid for the White House in 2016. Then, in 2020, she again directed the Florida operation as co-chair and senior adviser, according to Ballotpedia.
After Trump’s 2020 loss to Joe Biden, Wiles served as the chief executive of Trump’s political action committee, the Save America Leadership PAC.
Trump has repeatedly praised her work and stated that he still has full faith in her.
“The Susie Wiles story was a fake story. She’s been incredible,” Trump told reporters Friday on the South Lawn.
“They released it knowing it was a fake story. Susie is here, and she’s going to be here for a long time,” he continued.
