Vanna White Sparks Fans to Rethink What 69 Is Supposed to Look Like After a Wild Coachella Weekend

April 16, 2026

Vanna White, the cherished co-host of Wheel of Fortune, continues to demonstrate that age is really nothing more than a number.

For a long time, society has framed growing older as a condition that diminishes a woman’s beauty or relevance. Yet more and more women are pushing back, redefining what this life stage can look like, whether that means pursuing new relationships, embracing spontaneity, or simply choosing happiness without apology.

That appetite for adventure shows up in a variety of ways. For some, it means keeping an open heart to dating younger men without feeling the need to justify it. For others, it’s saying yes to experiences that feel invigorating — from concerts and trips to nights out that break the conventional expectations placed on them. Public figures such as Oprah Winfrey, Madonna, and Gayle King have also faced criticism for embracing that freedom, even as they continue to move forward on their own terms.

Coachella, the annual two-weekend music festival, launched its opening weekend with concerts spanning April 10–12, and 69-year-old White was in attendance on Saturday, April 11. She was joined by her son, 31-year-old Nicholas “Nikko” Santo Pietro, and her daughter, 29-year-old Giovanna “Gigi” Santo Pietro.

Although Coachella imposes no age restrictions, a large portion of the crowd tends to be aged 18 to 45. But that doesn’t mean older celebrities don’t show up to enjoy the festivities — and even perform on stage.

White was photographed relishing Addison Rae’s set, and the game show veteran also brought along a little gift-giving gesture. She handed out Wheel of Fortune-themed fans to people who asked for one, after hinting about them in her Instagram Story.

The image she shared showed her and her son strolling, with a message she’d written in the sky area. “Headed in for Day 2,” she wrote, “If you see me inside, say hi! I might have a little gift for you.”

White posted another photo with her tattoo-artist daughter, Gigi. In the shot, they wore broad smiles with their “Wheel of Fortune” fans spread across their chests. The fans echoed the game’s wheel, complete with rainbow colors and dollar amounts across the panels.

Rather than leaning into the skin-baring fashion trends that many other attendees embraced, White favored a casually chic look with a touch of Western influence. She wore rhinestone jeans paired with a long-sleeved, bedazzled top and white sneakers.

Fans reacting to White’s Coachella sighting poured in with praise, saying, “Vanna is the coolest — love that you and the kids partied at Coachella. Party on, Vanna!” while another admitted, “Had no idea she even had a family… wow!”

Others joined in with admiration, writing, “She looks amazing and isn’t trying too hard,” though not everyone was convinced, with one person adding, “Does any 69-year-old mom want to party at Coachella? Not me.”

A fifth commenter noted, “Vanna White at 69 casually rocking Coachella 2026 with her adult kids is genuinely wholesome, cool and thus showing that staying fun, present, and energetic with family has no age limit after decades of graceful fame right.”

However, some fans offered critique of her presence at the music festival. Two warned, “She should act her age,” while another bluntly stated, “Time to grow up.”

Although it’s not common to spot people in White’s age bracket at Coachella, it seems many attendees are well beyond the typical young-adult range.

Kim Kardashian, 45, went undercover with her new boyfriend and NASCAR driver Lewis Hamilton, 41. Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, 54, did the same with his singer girlfriend Katy Perry, 41.

It’s possible White attended for the vibes or to catch artists from her era, including Talking Heads co-founder David Byrne, 73, who performed on Saturday. It isn’t clear whether she attended Sunday’s shows, where pop icon Iggy Pop, 78, also performed as an early act.

Either way, White demonstrates that for women, it’s a catch-22: do what you want and face criticism, or conform and risk losing a part of yourself. That’s why some choose to march to the beat of their own drum, despite the noise.

Madonna, 67, renowned for living by her own rules, has also faced backlash for her sexually charged performances and lingerie-inspired posts. Cher, 79, is another woman who not only dates younger partners — like Madonna — but also isn’t afraid to wear a bodysuit with sheer tights. Lauren Sánchez-Bezos, at 56, is frequently criticized for her signature body-hugging, skin-baring fashion at midlife. And her free-spirited club appearances, where she’s seen dancing — sometimes on couches — have left some critics squirming.

In fact, Sánchez-Bezos was spotted in a mini skirt paired with a cropped top featuring a plunging neckline, alongside her billionaire husband Jeff Bezos, during Coachella in 2023. Kris Jenner was also in attendance with her partner Corey Gamble, placing her at 67 at the time.
