When Melania Trump stated that artificial intelligence was fueling “the age of imagination,” she probably did not foresee that her husband could be among the audience for such a claim.
The former first lady’s technology initiative centers on children, aiming to spark innovation and creativity among K-12 students.
Nevertheless, Donald Trump, now 80, has become a focal point in AI discourse due to his unusual engagement with the new technology.

His administration frequently shares A.I.-themed memes and videos to bolster his image as a resolute American leader, even going so far as portraying himself as a figure of divinity. They also target political foes, including a racist video that depicted Barack and Michelle Obama as apes.
The public had not witnessed Trump and A.I. collide in real time until his July 1 visit to the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora, North Dakota.
During the visit, the candidate toured an immersive exhibit featuring an interactive hologram of Roosevelt. Roosevelt, who held office from 1901 to 1909, died at the age of 60 in 1919.

Trump stood at a podium, gazing at a lifelike Roosevelt avatar in the Campfire Reading Room exhibit. “Teddy” was projected behind a desk piled high with books. Trump’s communications adviser, Margo Martin, shared the clip of the moment.
Roosevelt came to life, offering presidential counsel to a successor. “Every day a president faces storms most people never see—but if you keep your nerve and remember that the nation comes first, you’ll get through. I know you know that feeling yourself,” Roosevelt advised.

In a separate clip, he asked Roosevelt whether the Panama Canal should be considered Roosevelt’s greatest achievement.
The avatar explained that greatness is subjective and that the canal “demonstrated what America could accomplish,” adding, “I gauge my greatest work by the number of lives improved.” Trump has even threatened to “take back” the waterway and rename it.
The trip grew increasingly unpredictable, drawing attention to Trump for some offbeat remarks. For example, he floated the idea of presenting himself and his sons, Don Jr. and Eric Trump, with the Congressional Medal of Honor. “We’ll have a threesome,” he quipped, provoking a roar of laughter from the crowd.
When Roosevelt’s line “Freedom is not a gift that lasts long in the hands of cowards” was recited, Trump admitted he himself was not above misappropriating ideas. “I want to use that — I shouldn’t have said that. I would’ve used that, and I wouldn’t have attributed it to T.R.”
Melania had previously been called out for echoing Michelle Obama’s speeches and for borrowing from her “Becoming” documentary for her own vanity project, the film “Melania,” released in January.
