White TikTok Creator Draws Backlash for Mocking Whoopi Goldberg’s Locs in Cringe Wig Review

March 8, 2026

A well-known white TikTok creator is now facing public backlash after making a joke that centers on Whoopi Goldberg’s hair.

While the clip doesn’t come across as overtly racist, the entertainer’s feigned disgust and his misrepresentation of a Shein curly wig as Goldberg’s signature locs has sparked anger and accusations of ignorance from many viewers.

“You guys, I ordered this wig on Shein, and let me show you what came in the mail,” he says before switching to his bedroom and the bendy-wired wig in his hand. “Be for f##king real. What the hell is this?”

Another cut in the video shows him wearing the wig, saying, “Shein, you better count your days because I did not order a Whoopi Goldberg wig.”

Stand-up comedian and fellow TikTok creator Anisa Nandaula was among the first to challenge Dean’s viral clip with a reaction video. In a bold overlay on her reaction, she captioned it, “Not Racist But IDK.”

Then she detailed her visceral response to viewing his post. Many viewers indicated they shared the same instinctive reaction and expression as the comedian.

“You know that moment when a white person says something that isn’t technically racist, but hearing it still makes you cringe,” she commented.

Nandaula wasn’t the only one irritated by his cringe-worthy attempt at humor.

“Those are finger coils, Whoopi has locs,” one commenter noted.

“This rubs me the wrong way,” another user wrote.

“Microaggression” appeared in the thread, while a separate reply observed, “This isn’t micro; it’s macro.”

“As soon as they put it on,” began one remark, which ended with, “My eyebrows squeezed themselves into a grimace.”

Another TikTok user expressed disbelief, remarking, “The fact that he thought that would be funny.”

One commenter linked it to a past crude joke he’d made about another Black female celebrity, asking, “Isn’t he the same guy who did the Ice Spice ASMR video?”

Dean’s video has racked up 782.1K plays since it first surfaced over the summer. He’s known for delivering silly remarks, inviting his nearly 538K followers to watch him apply makeup, and pulling off playful stunts.

Regrettably, this gag did not land with the audience the way he expected.
